Sojourn, Spring '98 Issue

From the Publishers

This Spring issue focuses on the goddess in religious traditions -- Christian, Sufi, Buddhist, Hindu, Nigerian Yoruba. These interview monologues illustrate the human necessity of keeping the feminine principal alive and stimulate us to consider the deeper reality that links our world traditions. After considering a volume of rich material, we decided to continue our exploration of the goddess in Summer by focusing on earth based spirituality -- old European pagan traditions and local adaptations of seasonal ritual and ceremony.
Our cover artist, Cassie Gibson of Ukiah, demonstrates another beautiful medium of expression, silk painting, by sharing with us her vivid and translucent scarves and wall hangings.
Feature articles for next issue include interviews with Marija Gimbutas' photographer, Joan Marler, Anne Newkirk Niven (SageWoman) and Morning Glory Zell. Topics for future issues include alternative economies, community development, bonding and relationship, the female body and spirituality.
We encourage our readers to send us articles, artwork, poetry and short stories and to join our team of volunteers. We are looking for people to do interviews, transcribe, proofread, edit, design, distribute and promote Sojourn. Also, every reader can become a partner in Sojourn's networking endeavors by becoming a mentor and giving gift subscriptions of Sojourn to others.
