Leadership has much to do with nurturing,
a sincere caring for others, coaching, guiding and serving. It's a process
of fully becoming oneself. Quality relationships are an important part
of the business woman's world-not just taking and using, but giving and
being present in ways that enable all parties involved to come to know,
trust and support one another. I think women who own businesses often
express as much pleasure in the relationships required to make the business
work as with excellence, increased profits and company growth. In this
way they demonstrate an integration of business ethics and personal ethics.
I also believe strongly that it is business's responsibility to protect
and improve the environment and that we are morally obliged to help develop,
not exploit, trade partners in developing countries.
Women's businesses are pivotal to meaningful change in how tomorrow's corporations are going to be shaped. In order for business to contribute to positive social change, women's values must infuse and permeate all of commerce. Women bring a courageous, heartfelt sense of connectedness to their businesses and their lives. This is what will drive business forward as we approach the millennium and fulfill our destiny as restorers of our planet, our communities and ourselves.
